There's a fine line between 'free' and 'open source' software. Compare these two sites listed below and you'll know what I am talking about. It will be interesting to discover how these developement and licencing concepts can apply to racing yacht design.


OpenSource Development 
The GNU Project was launched in 1984 to develop a complete Unix-like operating system which is free software. This site contains a wealth of information about free software. 
OpenSource software is an idea whose time has finally come. For twenty years it has been building momentum in the technical cultures that built the Internet and the World Wide Web. Now it's breaking out into the commercial world, and that's changing all the rules. Are you ready?
